Additional Classroom Reqiurements

  • Students are required to read through the Bible during each year of their study
  • Following each class, students will write a one-page journal entry on how the lesson will help them in ministry and their personal life.
  • Students will be required to read and prepare three book reports each term. These books should correlate to topics being discussed in class time or correspond to the student's current internship placement. A book list will be given to students at the beginning of each term.
  • Students will have an evaluation interview with the SOM Director at the end of each semester. Studnets who do not have a successful evaluation may be removed from the program.

Internship
The first year SOM students will participate in the ministries of the church where they already work. If schedules and time allows, they will also volunteer in different areas to receive a general overview of all ministry opportunities.

Second year students will concentrate their internship on one specific area for the entire year. These students will be presented with many additional opportunities to serve and lead in their respective ministry area. During this specialized internship time, all second year students will be expected to complete an intensive project of their choosing. Each student will leave the internship with a general but informed idea of the many facets that go into making that particular ministry area a success.

Internship areas include, but are not limited to: children's ministry, student ministries, intercession/prophetic ministry, pastoral care, community outreach, equipping/teaching ministry, praise and worship and local church administration/ministry.

Missions Trip
Each SOM student will be expected to complete at least one outreach during their time in Kingdom Advance. Such outreach opportunities provide another way in which students can utilize the concepts they have learned in our classes. Likewise, they provide excellent learning opportunities--giving the students a chance to follow someone else's lead and learn from them before they step into leading ministry for themselves.
